Cad Bane, or the "Stranger", was a Duros male bounty hunter and mercenary whose long career spanned three eras, during which he notoriously rented his services as a gun-for-hire to the most nefarious highest bidders, earning recognition as one of the most capable and experienced in the field together with the likes of his former peer, Boba Fett.
By his late years during the New Republic's reign, Bane was still active and was employed by the Pyke Syndicate, who required his talents to impose their expansion of the spice trade to the territories of Tatooine.
History[]
Mercenary amid wars[]
Hailing from Duro, Cad Bane quickly made a name for himself after the unceremonious end of fellow bounty hunter and brief mentor Jango Fett as one of the best gunslingers in the galaxy, providing his skills, ruthlessness and cunning to all those who could afford him. His infamy reached its height during the Clone Wars, a conflict waged between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which saw Bane being required to taking on a number of devilish assignments - no job was too meager, if the price was right.
A Stranger in the Desert[]
By the time the New Republic's governing, Cad Bane was still performing his favorite profession and was running a contract for the Pyke Syndicate. Wishing to conduct its dealings all over Tatooine, from the lawless Mos Eisley and Daimyo Boba Fett's Mos Espa to Marshal Cobb Vanth's remote Mos Pelgo, the spice cartel had hired Bane to assist.
After Din Djarin's departure from Mos Pelgo - now Freetown - Bane appeared, having been dispatched by the Pyke Syndicate to carry its embassy to Cobb Vanth, who had proven to be a thorn in its side. After making his way into the town, the bounty hunter conveyed the spice traffickers' offer of a bribe matching any proposal from Fett, if the Marshal turned a blind eye to their operations and stayed neutral in the following conflict - to further spurn the latter from considering a pact with the other party, he revealed the Daimyo to be an ex-bounty-hunter who had previously lent his services to the Galactic Empire. Not intimidated, Vanth and his helper, Scott, stood their ground and thus a fast duel with Bane ensued: the mercenary drew his blaster pistol first and wounded the Marshal before mercilessly shooting the Deputy dead. Having set an example, the "Stranger" announced to the townsfolk that Tatooine belonged to his employers in the Syndicate and that everyone would be left to their own devices as long as they did not oppose the running of spice on their land.
